Activity1.2: Our Reading Soundtrack

If this story had Music ...

This creative reflection helps your child express their identity through sound and emotion — another layer of understanding what motivates them.

After reading a story or finishing a favourite chapter, ask your child to pick a song that matches the mood of the story or a character’s feelings. You can play short clips of songs and talk about why they chose them.

Think:

“If this story had a soundtrack, what song would play here?”

“Does this song feel happy, brave, or sad — just like the story?”

“What would your song sound like if you were in this story?”

Make a shared playlist called “Our Reading Soundtrack”. Add a new song after each story and play it during car rides or cozy reading times to reinforce memory, mood, and connection.
