Activity 2.1 : Cozy Space Planner

Cozy Space Planner: Create Your Calm, Connected Corner

Create Your Calm, Connected Corner

Before a single story is read, the space where you read together tells its own story.

This activity invites you and your child to intentionally design a cozy corner — a small, soft, sensory-friendly space that says “this is our place.” When children associate reading with comfort, safety, and closeness, they arrive at books with open hearts rather than braced ones.

The Cozy Space Planner walks you through six gentle steps: choosing your spot, setting the mood, layering in comfort, adding the things your child loves, personalizing it together, and planning your shared time there. Along the way, you’ll pause to check in with your senses and, at the end of your first week, reflect together on what’s working.

This isn’t about Pinterest-perfect. It’s about presence.

A tucked-away corner, a soft lamp, a favourite stuffed animal, and you — that’s the whole recipe.

 What you'll need:
  • 10–15 minutes to complete the planner, plus whatever small items you already have at home.
What you'll make:
  •  A cozy reading space that belongs to both of you — and a ritual worth returning to.
